Archaeological finds in Thirasia

It is inevitable to find evidence of the amazing ancient civilization that flourished in Santorini before the catastrophic eruption, at Thirasia island which was then united with Santorini. Systematic excavations have taken place for the first time since11 August 2014, in Thirasia, at the church of Assumption. At the four excavation points, fragments of the first Cycladic settlements, abundant pottery from the Cycladic years, stone tools and obsidian blades were found. The ancient settlement occupied the greater part of the hill, on top of which is the church of the Assumption.
So tonight at 18.00, you can attend the briefing that is held at the Elementary school of Thirasia concerning the finds and the excavation methods of the archaeological team.
