Music event for Don Pascalis

An music evening dedicated to Don Paschalis Mytilieos (1866 -1957), the father of the Santorini Music School.
Mytilineos was a magnificent musician and he created the Catholic church choir with his friend Ioannis Pintos (1872-1959). He was an important teacher and gave music lessons to Catholic and Orthodox children on the island. Mytilineos played the ecclesiastical organ at St John the Baptist church in Fira from 1890 all the way up until 1956 when the catastrophic earthquake took place. The earthquake completely destroyed the musical instrument and a few months later, on the 29th of April 1957 he died in Santorini. Don Pashalis Mytilineos was certainly one of the most important figures on the island and it seems appropriate to commemorate his life in 2016 with a concert this autumn.
At Saint John the Baptist Cathedral Church (Duomo). At 20.00. Free entrance
