The "Blue Flag" awards for 2016 concerning beaches and marinas were announced. The Blue Flag is an international institution that awards the organized beaches with strict criteria such as quality of swimming water, environmental management, first aid, lifeguard services etc.The International Committee awarded this year a total of 430 beaches and 9 marinas in Greece, which remained in third place of the world ranking! Santorini retained the three Blue Flags same as last year, two at Kamari and one at Perissa, and added another in Ag. Georgios.
