Opening of "Theran Warriors" Exhibition

The exhibition was based on a book recording all men from the Cyclades who had participated in the Balkan wars, WW I and the war in Asia Minor, in the beginning of the 20th century. The book, was discovered by chance at an old building in Syros by the archaeologist Lefteris Zorzos and was preserved and saved. The names and the pictures, as well as details of the jobs and personal lives of the soldiers from Santorini were gathered and digitally editted for the sxhibition.
The opening was yesterday evening and it many people, especially elderly, had gathered to see the portraits. It was a moving opening as many recognised their relatives and still more offered many manuscripts or personal diaries of their deceased members of family!
The exhibition runs until 10 October.
