The celebration of Vedema

The locals call “vedema” the harvest in August. In fact, big vedema" refers to grape harvesting while "small vedema” to picking the Santorinian small, cherry tomatoes. According to a version, the word "vedema" means abundance and prosperity. In the past, vedema was a great celebration and grape stomping was accompanied by feasts and songs.
If you want to know “vedema” better and get a taste of traditional Santorini, you can attend today the yearly celebration of “vedema” in Santo Wines Winery, in Pyrgos.
