Monolithos is a small seaside village with narrow streets, whitewashed houses and a sandy beach with shallow warm waters! Following the road along the runway of the airport, on your left you will see a small hill hosting a picturesque white chapel, St. John.
Monolithos (= single rock) took its name from this hill which was a separate island next to Santorini but was united with Santorini celebrates after a volcanic eruption.
Every year on this day, the chapel of St. John the Baptist celebrates on the picturesque rock of Monolithos.
