Today is the first day of August and it is a custom in Greece to wish each other “kalo mina” which means “have a great month”!
The name “August” comes from the Emperor Augustus Caesar, who wanted to honour Cleopatra’s death on 12 August 30 BC, so he placed the month in this position. According to another theory, he chose this month to honour his great triumphs at that period. August is also the basic month connected with vacation and relaxation, at least in the Northern Hemisphere. So we wish you have happy holidays!
