1st May
The 1st
May is considered the celebration of spring, nature and flowers. The boys and
girls go out in the fields and “catch May”, as we say in Greece, that is they
make flower wreaths. These are hung on the house doors until 24th
June, when, on the celebration of Agios Ioannis Klidonas, they are thrown into
the bonfires which are lit in the village squares.
